I can’t believe I’m back to blogging. Haha!
Anyway, just a disclaimer, this is not a movie review plus the fact that I am not really a fan of this anime series, but I believe that what I am about to say is worth sharing ;)
So here are my thoughts while watching the movie:
- I WANT TO GO TO JAPAN!!! (with full conviction, emotions, expression)
Ok sorry, I just really want to express what my heart has been crying out for years. Haha! Here we go…
-I was actually impressed with the movie, not just with the cinematography, but most especially with the story of the main character Kenshin. Even though I wasn’t that familiar with the whole story of this series, I believe I have understood it right that Kenshin was once a killer, thus he was known as “Battosai” or in english “man slayer” (for the fans of this anime, correct me if I’m wrong. Hehe). But a season in his life (as explained by my friend) came that he decided not to kill anyone anymore; he decided to live a new life and never look back again.
For me, Kenshin’s story was really powerful that it hit me and reminded me of this verse from the Bible:
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
In the movie, Kenshin faced great challenges and temptations that will bring back his old self as a killer. He was provoked many times by his enemies. Just like in the scene when the villain, Shishio, even challenged Kenshin to fight with him, to kill him with the person that he was before. But Kenshin never gave in and never allowed the enemies to control him, and I believe it was because he knows that he is not the person that he was before, he is now a new creation.
Just like us who have surrendered our lives to Jesus. God did not just forgive our sins but He also gave us a new life, a new heart. We are no longer slave to sins. Sin no longer has control over our lives. We are now a new creation because of what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. So whenever we face trials or temptations, always remember, we are no longer controlled by our sins and by the grace of God, we can say NO to sins! Jesus has already won the victory!
Indeed, the old has gone, the new has come!
